Karilan Navettagalleria

Karilan Navettagalleria is a rustic café on the edge of a national park.

As its name suggests, the café has been renovated into an old barn. The hay barn next to the barn functions as both a café and an art gallery with both temporary exhibitions and permanent works.

The pastries and food at Navettagalleria are made from high-quality ingredients on site: we bake donuts, savory and sweet pastries and pies every day. Our selection usually includes products made from gluten-free ingredients. Smoked reindeer soup is also available on the takeaway table. The soup, seasoned with Koskenlaskija cheese, is made from local reindeer meat and root vegetables. For vegans, we prepare lentil and coconut soup.

The house specialty is whitefish kurniekka, which fish lovers will surely enjoy!

In the summer, we also serve ice cream!

We can arrange meals by appointment - preferably from local ingredients.

The courtyard of the Barn Gallery is an old-fashioned courtyard and the other buildings in the courtyard are for the family's private use. We live here!

In the summer, there is a trampoline and a bike stunt track in the courtyard that are freely available.

Art lovers will find works of art in the nearby forest and along the trails, created by Art Äkäslompolo.

From the courtyard of the Barn Gallery in Karila, you can start walking the Story Trail created by the Äkäslompolo Family Association. Along the trail, there are sites that tell about the history of the village. The sites also have QR codes that you can scan to listen to short stories.

Karila is connected to the trail network. From here, it is easy to go hiking, cycling and skiing to, for example, Kukastunturi, Kesänkitunturi or northern wilderness cafes. You can leave your car in the parking lot for a day trip.
